Over 200 Karnataka taluks likely to be declared drought-hit: Dy CM
More than 200 taluks across Karnataka are likely to be declared drought-affected as the state government assesses them in phases based on prescribed criteria and ground-truthing, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara said on Sunday. So far, 101 taluks have been declared drought-hit in the first phase and another 24 in the second, while 52 more are expected to be added in the next three to four days.
Parameshwara said ground-truthing would subsequently be conducted in around 50 more taluks before a decision is taken. He said the state has estimated losses of around Rs 18,000 crore in the 101 taluks declared drought-hit in the first phase and sought Rs 3,500 crore in relief from the Centre. The government will also seek drought relief and a farm loan waiver from the Centre, he said.

One dead, brother injured in clash between neighbours in Delhi’s Kalkaji
A man died and his brother was injured after a violent scuffle broke out between residents living on different floors of a residential building in Delhi’s Kalkaji area during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, police said. The Kalkaji police station received a PCR call around 12:03 am reporting a quarrel at a property in the area, following which a police team reached the spot.
The injured brothers, identified as Manjeet Singh alias Bunty and Dilbag Singh, were taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where doctors declared Manjeet brought dead. Dilbag is undergoing treatment. Gurugram Police bust prostitution racket at PG, 21 detained
Gurugram Police and the Haryana State Commission for Women raided a PG in Sector 38 and busted an alleged prostitution racket, detaining 13 men and eight women, including foreign nationals, officials said on Sunday. The racket came to light after a minor girl rescued on Saturday told police about the PG. Police arrested Sahil, a Jharsa resident allegedly running the racket, and his wife. Preliminary investigation found that Sahil allegedly used WhatsApp and websites to operate the racket with 10-12 associates. Protests erupt in Manipur’s Kangpokpi over detention of six villagers
Violent protests broke out in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district late Saturday over the alleged detention of six villagers by security forces, officials said. Man accused of killing Amritsar ASI shot dead in police encounter
A man allegedly involved in the murder of an assistant sub-inspector was killed in a police encounter in Amritsar on Saturday night, officials said. Fire partially damages Mata Vaishno Devi helipad terminal in Katra
