Ayurvod wins Gold at World Liqueur Awards 2026

Ayurvod, a craft spirit brand blending Indian Ayurvedic traditions with European distillation, has won a Gold Medal at the World Liqueur Awards 2026 in London.

The victory for Ayurvod, the creation of Malayali entrepreneur Midhun Mohan, follows a Gold Medal win earlier this year at the Warsaw Spirits Competition. Produced in Poland, the 40% ABV spirit features a base of premium Polish wheat vodka. It is infused with a blend of over 75 traditional Ayurvedic botanicals, including cardamom, turmeric, cinnamon, and gooseberry, and is sweetened with jaggery. The recipe also incorporates natural Polish forest fruits to balance the botanical profile.

Mr. Mohan developed the spirit over several years, collaborating with Polish distiller Mariusz Pluciński to refine the balance between ancient Indian recipes and modern European technical excellence. “The recipe of Ayurvod took a lot of inspiration from Ayurvedic recipes. My job was to integrate them into Polish vodka,” he says.

According to Mr. Mohan, the project was intended to serve as a bridge between cultures rather than a strictly commercial venture. He adds that the brand was created to address a lack of premium spirits that genuinely honour Indian heritage and the science of Ayurveda on the international stage.

This is the second major spirits brand launched by Mr. Mohan, who previously introduced the Indian arrack ‘Charayam’ to the global market. “With two major international accolades in a single year, Ayurvod has established itself as a notable competitor in the premium liqueur segment, proving that traditional Indian botanical knowledge can successfully integrate with high-end global distillation practices,” says Mr. Mohan.
