Police say a vehicle was driven the wrong way on the Gardiner Expressway and through a construction site before ultimately falling through a “hole” onto Strachan Ave. late Tuesday afternoon.

Toronto Police alerted the public at 5:37 p.m. via a post to the social-media site X that a vehicle was travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes on the Gardiner at Spadina Ave.

“Use extreme caution in the area,” police said on X.  

In a follow-up post, cops said the vehicle went through a construction zone and fell through a hole onto Strachan.

Comments on social media suggested the driver crashed through construction fencing before plunging onto the roadway below after falling through a gap in the still-unfinished decking near Strachan.

There were no reported injuries.
