Surrey police said the crash, which happened at the intersection at 200th Street and 36th Avenue, followed an alleged armed robbery at a Home Depot in Surrey. However, police referred any further details to the Langley RCMP.

Mounties in Langley did not confirm a robbery and have released very little information about what happened.

Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, a spokesperson for the Langley RCMP, said members were helping the Surrey police and the CFSEU Uniform Gang Enforcement Team with an investigation when police officers became involved in a crash with a suspect vehicle and an unrelated civilian vehicle.

Two police officers were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash, said Sharoom.

The suspect is also receiving medical treatment for injuries unrelated to the motor vehicle incident, according to Langley RCMP.

RCMP say the driver of the civilian vehicle was not injured.

The intersection at 200th Street and 36th Avenue was closed to traffic while police investigated but has since reopened.
