Durham Regional Police are seeking witnesses after swastikas were spray-painted onto playground equipment in Clarington.

Cops say that on Saturday around 4:15 p.m., they responded to a report of hate-motivated graffiti at Stuart Park at 58 Stuart Rd.

They found a swastika spray-painted on a slide and another beneath a panel, along with profane language.

The offensive graffiti has since been removed by police and city staff.

Based on witness accounts, authorities believe the graffiti is believed to have been written between 3 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Police are urging anyone who was in the area during this time and may have seen suspicious activity to contact Det. Micallef of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1615.
