Police arrested several youths in a Surrey mall after a man reported he was being chased and shot by armed teens.

The man reported the incident to police just before 3 p.m. on March 18 as he was being chased in the area of 149th Street and 104th Avenue in Guildford, said Surrey Police Services in a news release Tuesday.

Officers responded and found several youths who appeared to be involved, although some of them fled and ran into Guildford Town Centre.

Police chased the suspects, including the canine unit and the Lower Mainland urban patrol helicopter.

“Numerous” youths were taken into custody at various locations in the mall, police said.

“At this early stage, at least one Airsoft gun and a can of bear spray has been recovered at the scene and officers are continuing their search for additional weapons that may have been discarded by the youth during the incident.”

Some teens have been released pending further investigation.

No injuries have been reported.
