An Olympic skier has opened up about what it feels like to have suffered from a frozen penis during two different gruelling cross-country events.

Remi Lindholm, a 27-year-old competitor from Finland, says that the pain from having to thaw out his icy appendage was “unbearable.”

Lindholm suffered the ailment during the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing while competing in what was originally supposed to be the men’s 50km cross-country skiing event. However, due to fierce winds and brutal weather conditions at the time, the race was reduced to a distance of 30km.

With temperatures at -17C, Lindholm finished the event in one hour and 16 minutes to come in 28th place — a fine effort considering the rather painful circumstances he had to endure.

After the race, Finnish media outlet IL reported that Lindholm endured the nasty ailment, which he described as “unbearable.”

“You can probably guess what was on the ice when I got to the finish line. It was one of the worst competitions I’ve been in,” he said.

“It was just about battling through. When the body parts started to warm up after the finish, the pain was unbearable.”

Officials gave Lindholm a heat bag after the race to help thaw out his frozen body parts.

It was a pain that Lindholm knew all too well, having suffered from the same affliction the previous year, during the Ruka World Cup in his home country.

Lindholm apparently didn’t learn his lesson, opting to wear thin layers of material during the race, which failed to properly protect his privates from the frosty conditions.

When asked to compare the two nightmarish situations, Lindholm admitted the second time was worse.

“It was (worse this time). Pretty unbearable pain,” he told the Mirror.

Luckily for Lindholm, he hasn’t suffered from the ailment since that fateful day in China. He did, however, recently announce a new sponsorship with an aptly named grooming company: Dick Johnson.

With the 2026 Olympics just over a year away, it’s unknown if Lindholm will make the Finnish team for Milano Cortina.
