Rotherwurst, a stall specialising in “hot dogs with history”, which opened in September, has announced that operations will cease whilst they review “ongoing external concerns”.
“Our stall at the Butter Market is temporarily closed while we review ongoing external concerns that are affecting our quality assurance standards,” an announcement said.
“This is a precautionary measure, and we look forward to resuming normal operations once the situation has been resolved.”

The business had been started by Stephen Benbow, who wanted to honour the city’s wartime heritage and tell the story of the “valiant” Herefordshire workers on the home front.
Along with serving classic German bratwurst, Mr Benbow also operates the company’s sister business, The Tea-NT Company, which is inspired by the wartime ration of two pounds of tea per week.

Mr Benbow, who is a veteran and former combat medic, previously said he was trying to give back to the city’s armed service personnel, with donations from the business going towards Herefordshire Veteran Support Centre (HVSC), and the Military Wives Choir, of which his wife is a part of.
