Michigan leaders will discuss economy, jobs and more at 2025 Mackinac Policy Conference

The 2025 Mackinac Policy Conference, held by the Detroit Regional Chamber, takes place May 27-30 on Mackinac Island. It brings together government, business and philanthropic leaders from Michigan and beyond to discuss key issues the state is facing.

Michigan leaders will discuss what tools, technologies and infrastructure are needed to improve the state’s economy, businesses, education sector, jobs, housing and quality of life. This year’s conference theme is “The Equation for Impact.”

A Detroit mayoral debate is scheduled for May 29 and will be moderated by One Detroit contributors Stephen Henderson and Nolan Finley. Five candidates — James Craig, Fred Durhal III, Saunteel Jenkins, Solomon Kinloch Jr. and Mary Sheffield — have been invited.

One Detroit will also livestream keynote speeches from Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a conversation with Michigan’s congressional leaders, and a conversation with Ford Motor Company’s Bill Ford and Alexandra Ford English on our Facebook page. Additional conversations about education, housing and building civic infrastructure will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel.

The conference also includes conversations about how tariffs are impacting trade in Michigan’s automotive industry, making a bid to bring the WNBA back to Detroit and more. View the full conference schedule here.

One Detroit contributor Zoe Clark, political director for Michigan Public, talks with Detroit Regional Chamber President and CEO Sandy Baruah and this year’s conference chair Peter Quigley, president and CEO of Kelly, about what to expect from the 2025 conference.
