A dump truck driver is facing a 90-day driving suspension after his loaded truck was spotted driving dangerous on Highway 1 in Chilliwack.

RCMP said it received a call from a passerby about a truck being driven dangerously on the highway heading eastbound near Vedder Road just before 9:30 a.m. last Wednesday.

B.C. highway patrol officers stopped the truck about 20 kilometres away near Popkum Road and saw signs the driver was impaired, said police.

The 64-year-old driver, who had to be picked up by his wife from the side of the highway, faces a 90-day driving ban.

The fully loaded truck was impounded for 30 days. Police said the Abbotsford company that owns the truck will pay for towing and impound costs.
