A youth at the time of the alleged attack, the man’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police alleged that early on  Aug. 14, 2015, the victim was walking alone near the Quigley Rd.-Veevers Dr. area in western Hamilton when she was pulled into a wooded area and sexually assaulted.

Police say the woman escaped, kicking her attacker in the face with her boot. DNA evidence was collected from the boot, but no match was found at the time.

In December 2021, a DNA match was identified, resulting in an arrest on March 4, 2025.

Bank fraud charges

A woman allegedly used fake identification to impersonate several people so she could take money from their accounts, according to Durham Regional Police.

The woman allegedly went to several banks, between Feb. 25, 2022 and Aug. 17, 2023, and used fraudulent identification to withdraw more than $72,000 from victims’ accounts, said police.

Nadia Campitelli, 48, of no fixed address, faces four counts of fraud over $5,000 and other charges.

Police said she is wanted by other police forces for similar alleged offences across Canada.

Officer charged

An 18-year veteran of the Halton Regional Police Service has been charged with fraud, following a lengthy investigation by the OPP.

In February 2023, officers embarked on a probe of complaints related to an investment scheme.

Sgt. Jon Williams has been charged with one count of fraud over $5,000 in addition to two other people with no connection to the police.

Williams is suspended from duty with pay.
