Police in Delta investigating a report of shots fired discovered a vehicle riddled with bullet holes but no victims.

The shooting was reported in the 9400-block of River Road shortly before 11 a.m. Monday.

“Investigators believe that this incident was targeted,” said Insp. James Sandberg, spokesman for the Delta Police Department, in an update.

Officers were in the area Monday afternoon investigating, but a police request to avoid the area has been lifted.

Sandberg said police think the suspect has fled the area; he is described as a man wearing all black clothing.

Did you lose cash in Langley?

Langley RCMP are hoping to return a “sizeable amount of cash” to its rightful owner after it was turned in over the weekend.

Police have determined that the cash was found on Jan. 22 in the 7200-block of Springbrook Road.

“We are asking the rightful owner to come forward and explain themselves in detail so that the monies can be returned to them,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom.

Sharoom said people should not contact police and simply guess at the total amount in hopes of getting the cash, warning that “making a false claim is a crime.”

Assault at Langley Memorial Hospital

A nurse has been attacked by a suspect brandishing an “edged weapon” at Langley Memorial Hospital.

Shortly after midnight on March 8, Langley RCMP were called to the assault in progress at the hospital in the 22000-block of Fraser Highway.

“Officers arrived and located hospital security, who were engaging with an alleged suspect that had physically assaulted a nurse and had produced an edged weapon,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom.

A 37-year old man from Surrey was arrested for assault and assault with a weapon, and has been released until a later court date.

“It’s deeply concerning, not only for the community but also for hospital staff who are simply doing their best to provide health care to everyone,” said Sharoom.

The nurse was not seriously injured.
