Staying focused on nutrition in the new year

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – A new year offers a clean slate with many taking on new goals and challenges. It’s not uncommon for many to aim toward a healthier lifestyle, especially around nutrition. According to a survey by YouGov, 22 percent of Americans have made resolutions to eat healthier. But work, parenting and daily tasks can create budgeting issues and limit how much free time you have.Registered dietician Laura Vollink shares how you can stay motivated once the New Year’s magic wears off.“A lot of times, your resolutions or goals can evolve over time. Set that New Year’s resolution, but just know that it might be flexible or you might check in a month later or two months later, and just see what challenges did you have, what barriers made it difficult and kind of retweak that goal to keep it going and to try to keep it consistent.”Vollink also said to focus on progress over perfection, try to be consistent and give yourself some grace if it doesn’t work out exactly as you expected.Copyright 2026 KFVS.
