**ANIMAL WELFARE**

In response to “Banning pet stores from selling animals does more harm than good” (John Stossel, Oct. 8): The decision to ban predatory pet stores, as cities like Toronto and Vancouver have done, is a sensible measure for anyone who opposes animal cruelty and wants to prevent heartbroken pet owners from spending thousands trying to save gravely ill animals. Contrary to industry claims, nearly all puppies sold in pet stores can be traced back to puppy mills. These high-volume breeding operations often confine dogs in cramped, filthy cages under extreme weather conditions, deny them necessary veterinary care for illnesses and injuries, and breed them until their bodies can no longer endure. It’s no surprise that stories from buyers who were misled into purchasing sick dogs—only to have the store deny any responsibility—are prevalent in news reports and on social media. True advocates for animal welfare will always support policies that protect animals rather than those who profit from their suffering.

(We must do everything possible to crack down on puppy mills and shut them down.)

**GOING SOUTH**

As I watch Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government dismantle our once-great country, I wonder if our new leader and self-proclaimed economist, Mark Carney, can explain how long Canada will endure while his party clings to Trudeau’s absurd bills that hinder projects and obstruct our natural resources from reaching foreign markets. Major companies are relocating to the U.S., and Carney’s response is to provide financial assistance to those who lose their jobs. Meanwhile, Trump continues to find humor in our situation.

(Canada is on track to become a massive welfare state for both individuals and businesses. This is not a viable strategy.)

**ECONOMY IN RUINS**

To devise a plan for ruining the Canadian economy through creeping socialism, rampant immigration, unchecked violent crime, and excessive deficit spending, simply elect a Liberal government and wait.

(Sadly, yes.)
