Wichita police reported that a homeowner provided alarming footage showing a woman being forcibly grabbed. Published on October 15, 2025, this incident unfolded in Kansas, where a woman believed to be a victim of abduction was found safe, and a man is now in custody following the release of the distressing video.
The Wichita Police Department stated that the homeowner shared the troubling footage on Sunday night, which depicted a woman being violently seized from behind outside her home while she screamed for help. The homeowner, who typically does not review her security camera recordings, felt compelled to check the footage. “Something just told me to look at it,” she told NBC News, requesting anonymity for safety reasons. “I usually don’t check it, but something urged me to look, and I saw it.”
Investigators classified the incident, which took place around 2 a.m. on Sunday, as a case of domestic violence. “Your assistance is crucial in helping us ensure her safety,” police stated on social media alongside a photo of the victim. They urged anyone who recognized her or had information about her identity or whereabouts to contact 911 immediately.
On Tuesday morning, investigators held a press conference where they showed the video of the alleged abduction. Shortly after, a 35-year-old woman reached out to the authorities, claiming to be the person in the footage. “We want to thank the public for sharing the video and images that drew additional attention to this incident; we believe it prompted her to contact us,” police shared in a social media update.
Authorities reported that the woman, who resides in the area, was taken to city hall for an interview and did not sustain any serious injuries. A 22-year-old man, identified as the victim’s boyfriend, was arrested and faces charges including aggravated battery strangulation, two counts of domestic simple battery, and criminal restraint.
