Durham cops allege man sexually assaulted females after offering rides

Two women were reportedly taken to Whitby and sexually assaulted. Published on October 15, 2025, with the latest update just 22 minutes ago, this article discusses the case involving Ravi Tirbaney, a 39-year-old man from Scarborough. He is accused of offering rides to women in Oshawa and subsequently assaulting them in Whitby on two occasions: August 17, 2024, and January 12, 2025.

According to Durham Regional Police, both women were assaulted after accepting rides, and authorities are concerned there may be additional victims. In the first incident, police responded to a report of sexual assault near Wentworth St. and Thickson Rd. S. in Whitby around 11:15 p.m. on August 17, 2024. The victim was approached by a man while in the Quebec St. area of Oshawa, who offered her a ride. She was then taken to an industrial area in Whitby, where the assault allegedly occurred.

A similar incident was reported on January 12, 2025, just after 4 a.m., when officers were called to the vicinity of Victoria St. E. and Thickson Rd. S. in Whitby. The second victim stated that she was approached by a man near Simcoe St. S. and Hall St. in Oshawa, who also offered her a ride. He allegedly drove her to Moore Ct. and William Smith Dr. in Whitby, where she was sexually assaulted.

Following the investigation, a suspect was identified and arrested on Tuesday. Ravi Tirbaney now faces two counts of sexual assault. Police have released his photo and images of the vehicle involved.
