One woman was killed and another critically injured when they were hit by a vehicle in Mississauga Friday evening.

Peel Regional Police say the pedestrians were struck in the area of Lakeshore Rd. W. and Walden Circle – near Southdown Rd. – around 6:15 p.m.

One woman was reportedly rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries and later died.

The second woman suffered critical injuries but was believed to be in stable condition in hospital.

The driver remained at the scene.

The area was shut down to traffic while officers from the Major Collision Bureau investigated the deadly incident.
