Young’s new band is the Chrome Hearts and features some legends and newcomers in its ranks. Farfisa organist Spooner Oldham has a resume that reaches back to his days as part of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section where he performed on such classics as Wilson Pickett’s Mustang Sally, Percy Sledge’s When a Man Loves a Woman and many others. Guitarist Micah Nelson is the son of outlaw legend Willie Nelson. Corey McCormick, bass and vocals, and drummer Anthony LoGerfo both play in Lukas Nelson’s band Promise of the Real.

His acoustic guitar playing is dramatic, with perfectly placed percussive slaps, reverberant picking and a fluidity that flows right along with his lyrical hooks. The pauses and muted chording in Old Man were riveting. And the audience singalong was pretty happening too.”
