During a speech at Salesforce’s Dreamforce conference on Tuesday, Nvidia’s founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, expressed his perspective on the potential risks associated with AI. To him, AI is not considered a novel type of “alien mind,” unlike what a certain OpenAI safety researcher has labeled it. He remarks that it’s merely hardware and software, both created by humans. According to him, it is manageable by humans and current legislation. He stated, “Safety is a matter of engineering, rather than law.” “We are in the process of creating a software program.” After all, we are creating computing systems. Although it is a complex computing system, it essentially boils down to a computing system. Hence, he contends that there’s no necessity for the introduction of fresh legislation or rules to govern it.
