In Summary. Published:. 2:06 PM Pacific Daylight Time, July 26th, 2026. Apple is gearing up to release its inaugural smart glasses, while simultaneously grappling with consumer privacy issues, as per Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. Gurman indicates that the launch date has been postponed from the initial timeline in early 2027, with the glasses now expected to be introduced during the Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2027, and later become available by year-end. The pause gives Apple the opportunity to refine its product and its privacy messaging. It appears that the corporation has taken note of the concerns surrounding Meta’s smart glasses, nicknamed “pervert glasses,” which could potentially be utilized for unauthorized video recordings. Apple may face a significant problem, given its strong emphasis on privacy. To address this, the company is apparently planning to highlight features that protect user privacy, such as processing data on devices themselves and not utilizing facial recognition technology. The firm is likely to avoid utilizing customer recordings for training AI models, and it seems improbable that they will adopt Meta’s purported method of employing contractors to scrutinize customer footage.
