Owner of Bobcat Nutrition in Hallsville excited to expand community presence

Editor’s note: This story originally appeared in the January issue of Harrison Magazine.Ana Karen Rodriguez says she always has wanted to help other people.It was the reason she received her Certified Nursing Assistant certification from Panola College and why she was on her way to becoming a registered nurse until the COVID-19 pandemic derailed those plans.With so much uncertainty during that time, she began working at her brother’s business, 903 Nutrition Marshall. It was there where she found a new way to help others.“I loved it. I loved the community. I loved helping people. And that’s what they do in his store … And it was just an amazing way for me to help people,” Rodriguez said. “I actually helped a customer (lose) over a hundred pounds. So it is pretty amazing, and that’s why I continue to do it.”Rodriguez, of Marshall, also is a health and wellness coach who helps customers with workout and meal plans. Now, as owner of Bobcat Nutrition in Hallsville, she helps community members find their path to wellness while also serving healthy beverages.Rodriguez took ownership of the Hallsville business two years ago to be closer to home. While working for her brother, she said she realized she wanted to do what he was doing.“I fell in love with the community, and I did fall in love with helping people,” she said. “Every day I wake up and I’m like, ‘Hey, it’s gonna be an amazing day,’ and I just want to pour out into people. It makes me feel amazing that I’m here because, really, the community means a lot to me.”Bobcat Nutrition, which opened in 2021, serves healthy shakes, energy drinks, teas and more.Being a part of the community is something Rodriguez prioritizes. In the past, Bobcat Nutrition has contributed to local food drives, and she hopes to expand community service by holding events and fundraisers.“We look forward to growing into the community,” she said.When customers walk inside the store at 300 E Main St, they are greeted with positivity.Rodriguez said she knows everyone struggles at some point, and a friendly smile can go a long way.“At the end of the day, people struggle, people go through battles, and we don’t know what they’re going through. But if I can bring a little peace and smile to their life, that means a lot to me,” she said.Rodriguez said instead of name-brand energy drinks, Bobcat Nutrition offers customers natural energy drinks made with vitamins. She recommends customers try the Mega Teas or the Tropical Sunset.“Our Mega Teas give (customers) mental focus, it gives them hydration, it gives them collagen. It gives them tea to boost their metabolism. It gives them aloe for the digestive system,” she said. “But our top-seller here is the Tropical Sunset … It’s strawberry pineapple coconut, and it’s really good. I love it, and everybody loves it.
