The Sea to Sky Highway is shut down in both directions near Whistler after a major crash Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred on Highway 99 between Callaghan Valley Road and Brew Creek Road, north of Brandywine Falls provincial park, just before 9 a.m., said RCMP. Several vehicles were involved.

Sea to Sky RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Katrina Boehmer urged drivers to avoid the area at this time due to poor road conditions and the highway closure.

“There will be extensive delays until the investigation can be completed and the road can be re-opened,” she said in a news release.

DriveBC described the collision as a “multi-vehicle incident.” It said the road is closed for investigation.

There is no estimate when the highway will re-open, but DriveBC indicates a “lengthy closure” is expected.
